This year I’m not just making blogging one of my goals. I’m going to add reading on to the list of 2018 goals and I’m going to start out with the simple goal of three books. Yes, just three.
I don’t want to start too high or too low, plus last year I didn’t get in any so I think 3 would be a good start.
Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan, The Bride Price by Mai Neng Moua, A Thousand Beginnings and Endings by Ellen Oh, Elsie Chapman, Melissa de la Cruz, Julie Kagawa, Renee Ahdieh, Roshani Chokshi, Aliette de Bodard, Cindy Pon, Alyssa Wong, Sona Charaipotra, Aisha Saeed, Lori M. Lee, Shveta Thakrar, Preeti Chhibber, E.C. Myers, Rahul Kanakia.
I’m hoping to finish Crazy Rich Asians before the movie comes out this summer, and I’m not going to lie I’m kind of excited for this movie. I’ve read a lot of good reviews of this book so let’s hope it lives up to it’s hype. I’m always up for a good read with Asian protagonist.
The Bride Price: A Hmong Wedding Story is an autobiography by Mai Neng Moua about her wedding. I saw this book last year but wasn’t able to pick it up till recently. I’m always interested in learning more about my Hmong culture and traditions. I grew up in the United States and though I don’t consider myself very traditional there are still a few things I follow. Plus my husband’s side of the family is still very very traditional.
And last but not least, A Thousand Beginnings And Endings, which is a collaboration of 15 authors.
15 retellings of myths and legends.
I don’t think there’s a lot to say about this book. I usually read YA (Young Adult) books so this is my cup of tea. I was so excited when I saw Lori M. Lee; who is one of the author in this book, post about this on her instagram. I don’t have an actual copy of the book yet, according to Goodreads the published date is June 26, 2018. Look for me at the book store that day.
I’m pushing for a productive 2018!!!
